Out of the Box Summer Camp

Out of the Box

Summer Camp

By Jade Zhang

Last week, I went to a Summer Camp called "Out of the Box". It was a very enjoyable camp! I used boxes of all shapes and sizes to make a shield, "Jade's Wonderful Armor", a spear, a mace, two whips, a knife, and this gigantic weird spacesuit thingy. It was fun, Fun, FUN!

A wonderful factor of this camp was where it was held-the Ardenwood Historic Farm! I watched a bunch of awesome animals, rode on a train pulled by a horse, and had a tour of the 150 year old Patterson house!

On the first day of camp, I had a tour of the farm. On the second day, I watched the great movie Ferngulley. On the third day, I had a tour of the Patterson house! On Thursday, I worked on my cardboard things and on Friday, I finished the projects.

This was a very fun camp. I enjoyed myself a lot! I would like to thank the counselors for their hard work in helping me have a fantastic time.

2012 London Olympics Opening Ceremony

 2012 London Olympics

Opening ceremony

By Jade Zhang
The Olympics are here again! The London opening ceremony gives it a "loud and thumpy" start. The whole thing had our jaws dropping on the floor! It was inspiring, admiring, with a bunch of rockets firing. It was extraordinary! For a more detailed review, keep on reading!

In the beginning, the arrival of Queen Elizabeth II was awesome. She parachuted off a helicopter, into the colossal stadium. Agent 007 went with her. She didn’t look scared at all! In fact, during the whole ceremony, she looked really serious. Well, after that, the past-to-present part began – from Shakespeare to Lord Voldemort! It started with villagers working, and then smokestacks began to rise. They announced the beginning of the industrial revolution. Then, they were replaced by digital stuff.

After that, Tim Bernes-Lee, maker of the World Wide Web, appeared. Next, rings of fire were raised and finally made the five Olympic rings, high in the sky. Then, the boring part began. All of the countries, from Afghanistan to Zimbabwe marched in to the stadium. Well, after that, it was balanced out by an awesome dance! AWESOME!

This was amazing, blazing, and everyone’s praising! I’m sure the competitions will be just as exciting!
